For the past few months, ID Crypt Global has been working feverishly hard to bring together its digital identity platform and services, uniquely positioned to enable highly regulated organisations embrace Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI). A strategic and integral part of that solution includes providing trust in the underlying infrastructure that supports SSI globally.
Today, we announce that ID Crypt Global has become the latest organisation to become a steward of the Sovrin Network. As a steward, ID Crypt Global commits computing power and resources to the Sovrin Network, operating nodes that form the worlds largest decentralized identity network. Strict governance ensures that the Sovrin network is the network of trust and as such, Stewards form an integral part and provide a key role in forming that trust network.
“We believe the need for digital identities that can be trusted by all industries, including those that are highly regulated such as financial services, is a key step forward in building the internet of value. With true digital identities we can empower the next generation of user experiences within those industries.” said Lauren Wilson-Smith, CEO of ID Crypt Global. “Building trust takes a massive community effort, something the Sovrin foundation has been championing for many years. We are excited to be an integral part of the community, ensuring that we can all trust the infrastructure in which self-sovereign identity depends upon.”
ID Crypt Global joins more than 75 organisations around the world that form part of the Sovrin Network.
“We are really delighted to welcome another UK-based Steward of the Sovrin Network,” said Nicky Hickman, Trustee of the Sovrin Foundation. “Not only is ID Crypt Global led by a female entrepreneur, it is also a great example of fintech innovation leveraging self-sovereign identity for enhanced security, privacy and compliance.”
The ID Crypt Global platform empowers people and business to take control of their personal data. Through the platform, one can issue and verify digital identities that businesses can depend on for accuracy, this includes businesses that operate within regulated industries such as financial services. Those issued credentials provide regulated businesses with powerful KYC, sanction screening, AML, PEP identification and fraud detection tools while at the same time easing regulatory challenges such as GDPR and dramatically improving customer experiences and outcomes.

I have been following digital identity for a while, and have been hoping to see digital identity being used more online this year. I think once I can open a bank account with my ID, it will start to become more widely available with other online type services.
